The Main Events

BCP host the following main seasonal events throughout the year…

SPRING: Spring Fling – the big idea of this event is still being propagated, but it seems natural to have an event to celebrate the start of spring and kick off the busiest time in the garden. We usually do a big tidy up of the garden and the surrounding streets as part of the National Spring Clean. Any ideas for what we could do then please get in touch!

SUMMER: Street Party – this is now in it’s fourth year and each year goes from strength to strength. This year was huge success and included old favourites of the bring and share lunch and the bouncy castle plus we had the best ever live music line up, more stalls, and we reclaimed the street for the day. We are getting the hang of organising this thing now and it’s firmly on the calendar as an annual highlight – look out for the posters next year!

AUTUMN: Halloween Lantern Parade – the second parade was very exciting: Fancy dress, pumpkin carving and fire poi spinning. The parade goes from Battlefield Primary School along the local streets to the community garden where we have hot soup and sparklers and of course lots of fantstic carved pumpkins!

WINTER: Festive singing in the garden – this was excellent in 2010 when the clear and snowy weather made the garden a delight. The management reserve the right to cancel it if the weather is nasty…

ANNUAL GATHERING: this is when we get everyone together to celebrate our achievements and assess how we’re doing. It is also when we look to recruit more people to the group and think up some exciting ideas for the future. The gathering is usually held in the Spring/Summer time.
